How is it already March?

What's been going on? Well:

The experience with the betas went incredibly well...So well, they wanted a book two...what?! I couldn't believe it.

I'm kind of nervous that the feedback was so positive. It almost seems like a red flag...but I think it's awesome, too, so I'll take it. I'll leave it up to you all to judge.

But! I've decided that there WILL be a series with this character, & this story will be kind of like a prequel vs. a book one...does that ever happen? The prequel written before the series? Ha. I've never heard of that. Oh, well.

Now...an update on the publication of that book:

I began the story with the intention of providing it to my subscribers only. It was a labor of love for my newsletter readers...but then-- I realized I wanted it in paperback. And then I realized, as I mentioned above, it was going to be a lead in to a pretty kick butt series. So I couldn't offer it free to my subscribers anymore : /

But I still wanted something for my subscribers! It was extremely important to me to offer that to everyone. So! I came up with a BRAND NEW exclusive ebook idea for my newsletter subscribers, and honestly: I'm so excited for it! This new story is a lead-in to the Grey Sisters Saga. It is a side story, alternate point of view, occurring within the timeline of Book One, and I can not wait to start it ^_^ Also, please note that it will be exclusive to newsletter readers in ebook format. And it will be only available in ebook format-- but it is possible that it will be available later on in paperback and audio for purchase...because it's going to be SUCH A GOOD STORY...you all might need it on your shelves : )

Writing Update:

After December, I dove back into writing Book One of the Grey Sisters Saga. I had an old draft from a year ago (oh my gosh-- has it been a year?!) and I've been 'recycling' a few of the old words and fitting them into the new version of the draft.

I had intended to finish the book by the end of February, but the story has become a lot longer than I originally expected...so I extended my deadline to March 31. I'm powering through the draft and expect to have A LOT of edits to do in April...but I'm really hopeful that the story will be beloved by you all, as much as it is by me.

After I finish up Book One (drafting & editing), I'm going to work on my new newsletter exclusive : )

I hope you're enjoying the new year!

Wow.

It's really happening.

I just finished up the fifth draft of the newsletter exclusive (ebook, at least).

And it is now ready for my Beta Readers.

I need to say that again: Beta Readers.

Wow.

This is the farthest I've ever taken one of my books.

I'm so close to finishing...It's really happening.

My next step: I'm going to get a list of questions prepped for the Betas. I have a few concerns about pacing and a handful of other things that I'd like them to consider as they read.

AH! This is huge.

I hope they enjoy reading the book as much as I enjoyed writing the book.

Stay tuned.

I'm on the fourth draft of the subscriber exclusive novel...and it's printed, punched, and resting safely under my bed.

Sunday evenings are usually my largest swathe of available time, so I'm waiting until then to do my first read through...I'm very excited...very nervous. I truly love it so much. So much, in fact, I'm debating whether or not to offer it in paperback, as well, for those that want a physical copy...although, that would put a bit of an asterisk next to the exclusive label...

I'm torn.

What do you think?

Also, a lot of people have commented that the story is too long to offer as a newsletter exclusive freebie...and maybe it is, but I think I'd rather give you a good chunk of story to sink your teeth into than just a small taste.

Is 250ish pages too long?

Things to think about...
